Location: Kiama Downs Surf Club

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council(ARC) guidelines. This unit is ideal for those who may be required to provide CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace setting.

  • Warehouse and manufacturing
  • Parents, families, babysitters and carers
  • General health and fitness industry workers

Most work setting recognizes this qualification as being current for 12 months, a refresher course should be completed to remain current.

Delivery: Blended delivery (On –line and face to face.)

Duration: Up to 2 hours online up to 3 hours face to face

Assessments: Candidates will be required to demonstrate CPR which may include scenario based activities, written exams and questioning.

  • Chain of survival
  • Assessing the situation
  • DRSABCD
  • Performing CPR
  • Demonstrating the use of an automated external defibrillation (AED)
  • Care of the collapsed unconscious person
  • Special techniques for children and infants
  • CPR in special circumstances
  • Infection control
  • Reporting procedures
  • Provide an accurate verbal report of the incident

It is a requirement of this course that a practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor

Accreditation: Upon successful completion of this course you will be awarded a statement of attainment in HLTAID009 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
