Location: Kiama Downs Surf Club

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation and oxygen therapy in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. This course applies to persons who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation or oxygen therapy in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace setting.

These course is suited for everyone including:

  • Lifeguards and life-savers
  • Dive master instructors
  • Onsite First Aid personnel involved in rescue or fire protection
  • First Responders
  • Rescue Divers
  • Outdoor Recreation workers

Delivery: Blended delivery (On –line and face to face.)

Duration: Up to 2 hours on line and 4 hours face to face.

Assessments: Candidates need to demonstrate skills in an environment that provides realistic in depth scenarios and simulations to assess candidate’s skills and knowledge.

  • DRSABCD
  • Provide first aid at the scene of an accident or illness
  • Perform Basic Life support CPR & AED
  • Use oxygen to provide therapy
  • Recover and restore oxygen equipment
  • Use of oropharyngeal airway
  • Bag Valve and mask (BVM) resuscitation
  • Tourniquet application in Life threatening situations
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services
  • Maintenance of resuscitation equipment
  • Participate in debriefing to address individual needs
